Canadian Museum of Human Rights

Winnipeg, Canada

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights—the result of an international design competition won by renowned architect Antoine Predock—stands more than 100 meters tall on a 7.5-acre site in a prominent location near downtown Winnipeg. The design features walls reminiscent of mountains, built of Tyndall, a locally quarried stone. The museum houses several permanent exhibits, as well as temporary exhibition space, classrooms, a theatre, an informal gathering space for events, retail, and many areas reserved for contemplation and reflection.

FitzGerald worked closely with the local Architect of Record, international firm Smith Carter Architects and Engineers Incorporated, to successfully integrate the design intent with the realities of construction and played a vital role in the use of Building Information Modeling for documentation and construction.
