Sustainable Strategies

At FitzGerald, our expertise lies in blending creativity with technical knowledge to develop sustainability strategies that meet and often exceed the stringent goals set by both clients, certification orgs, and governmental bodies.

Our process begins by understanding the specific context of each project, including climate, site conditions, and community needs. We craft strategies that enhance building performance, reduce environmental impact, and contribute to occupant health and wellness. By using green materials, energy-efficient systems, and waste reduction practices, we ensure that every building is marketable, resilient, and positioned for long-term value.

Our approach is tailored to each project’s ownership strategy, whether it's a long-term hold focused on operational efficiency or a short-term market positioning goal. We integrate performance-enhancing features like energy-efficient systems, renewable energy solutions, and decarbonization strategies to meet both current and future sustainability demands.

For all of our clients we offer the production of a Strategic Sustainability Plan that creates a road map and vision of sustainability goals – from regulatory, financial, and certifications requirements to market expectations and ESG missions.

We help clients address regulatory, financial, and market expectations to meet sustainability goals and position a project for success

We are particularly adept at exploring Net Zero strategies in our designs, preparing buildings not just for today’s needs but for future sustainability demands as well. Whether the goal is Net Zero Energy, Net Zero Carbon, or Zero Emissions, these are among the most ambitious targets in the industry. While we understand they may not apply to every client or project, we believe that with proper planning and commitment, they are achievable. This includes designing buildings that produce as much energy as they consume, fully electrifying systems to eliminate on-site fossil fuel use, or offsetting carbon emissions through offsite renewable energy.
