Timothy Blatner
Principal, Technical Director
A licensed architect for over 40 years, Tim serves the office as Technical Director. He is responsible for document quality management, production and specification knowledge resources, maintaining and sharing knowledge of new and evolving construction materials, continuing education programming, and mentoring staff with project documentation and construction phase contract administration.
His work history covers a broad range of project types including multi-family housing (townhomes to high-rises), churches, an exhibition hall conference center, dining halls, fitness and recreation centers, light-industrial production and storage facilities, offices, parking structures, schools (elementary to college level), and urban infrastructure (bridges/viaducts, plazas, and streetscapes). These projects span the full spectrum of common construction types.
Tim’s experience has been multi-faceted with roles as accessibility and building code analyst, contract/construction administrator, designer, peer reviewer, project architect, project manager, specifications editor, technical coordinator, and BIM advocate.
At FitzGerald prior to his time as Technical Director, Tim was project manager for several large-scale multi-family housing projects with over 200 dwelling units each, including Arkadia, 3Eleven, The Emerson - Oak Park, and Wheaton 121, and for various specialty projects.
Tim enjoys serving on various church committees over 30 plus years and creative outlets beyond architecture, especially finding beauty through landscape and urban photography on family walks, collecting our daughters’ pottery, and tending my bulb and perennial garden.
